Kiao ("Kiao", "we", "our", or "us") is a dating app built around online profiles, live video calls, matching, and chat. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information: phone number, authentication identifiers, and sign-in information.
• Profile information: name, date of birth, age, gender, photos, prompts, traits, preferences, and other details you choose to add to your profile.
• Content you create: chat messages, photos, profile answers, reports, and other content you submit in the app.
• Video call data: data needed to connect live calls, including call identifiers, participants, call status, and usage limits. We do not record video calls.
• Verification data: selfie and face-check information used to help confirm that your profile photo represents a real person. Verification images are used for the check and are not intended to be used as public profile content.
• Location: approximate location if you allow location access, used for discovery and distance-based features. We do not show your exact location to other users.
• Device and usage data: app interactions, crash data, diagnostics, device type, operating system, and performance data used to keep the app working and improve it.
• Purchase data: subscription status and product identifiers from Apple for Kiao+ or Kiao Pro access. Payment card details are handled by Apple; we do not receive your full payment card information.

2. How We Use Information

• To create and manage your account.
• To show your profile to relevant online users and support matching features.
• To connect live video calls and unlock chat after matching.
• To enforce daily limits, subscription access, and safety rules.
• To moderate photos, messages, and reports, and to reduce fake or abusive accounts.
• To send notifications about matches, messages, calls, and important app activity.
• To debug crashes, improve performance, and understand product usage.

3. Video Calls

Kiao uses WebRTC for live video calls. Calls may connect directly peer-to-peer where possible. When direct connection is not possible, traffic may be relayed through a TURN server. We do not record or store video call audio or video.

4. Moderation and Safety

We may use automated systems and service providers to detect inappropriate photos, abusive behavior, spam, fake accounts, and policy violations. Users can report or block other users. Accounts may be restricted, suspended, or removed for safety reasons.

5. Service Providers

We use service providers to operate Kiao, including Supabase for authentication, database, storage, and backend functions; cloud infrastructure for TURN/video connectivity; Apple for subscriptions and app distribution; and moderation or diagnostic providers when needed. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to us.

6. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only when needed to operate the app, comply with law, protect users, process payments through Apple, or respond to safety and abuse issues.

7. Data Retention

We keep information while your account is active or as needed to provide the app, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our terms, and protect safety. You can delete your account in the app settings. Deletion removes your profile and account-related app data from active use, subject to backups, security logs, legal obligations, and anti-abuse records.

8. Your Choices

• Edit your profile in the app.
• Control camera, microphone, photo, notification, and location permissions in iOS Settings.
• Block or report users in the app.
• Delete your account from Settings.
• Contact us for privacy requests.

9. Age Requirement

Kiao is for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly allow people under 18 to use the app.

10. International Use

Your information may be processed in countries outside your country of residence, depending on where our service providers operate.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the date above when changes are made.
